The Hiatus is located inside the complex of the Qutub hotel, Qutub Institutional Area, South Delhi.
I visited Hiatus with my better half on Valentine's Day. Though there was a special Valentine's Day menu, we planned to order from the regular one. We had taken the outside seating, which was a romantic corner. The ambiance was amazing and the service was quick. Waiters were courteous and friendly - something which made us comfortable instantly.
We were given complimentary breads with four types of home made butter. We started with drinks - A glass of whisky and a mocktail called the Mango Ocean, which was a mix of mango juice and chaat masala and one of the most delicious mocktails I have ever had - The tangy flavor of the mango balanced the richness of the chaat masala very well.
Then came the surprise beetroot dish which again was complimentary. This dish was executed perfectly, and the bright colors of the ingredients peeking through the beetroot cream made it a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach.
For the main course, we decided to go with chicken in hot basil with vegetable fried rice. Unlike other dishes, this dish was pretty ordinary, there was nothing special about it. Maybe that's because the chef was busy with the Valentine's Day special menu. Which was okay in a way, so we didn't mind at all.
Next we ordered a non-vegetarian soup - Chicken Veloute with tandoori chicken chunks, which was served with basil oil and paprika crouton, and came in a fancy mug. Every sip of this soup was divine, and I enjoyed it till the end. Then came the Spanish styled chicken tikka which was basically paprika infused succulent chicken chunks, served with mango salsa. It was perfectly cooked and truly remarkable. I ended up licking my fingers!
In short, Hiatus is a nice place with lovely ambiance (must try for couples). The servings are big and a bit pricey, but it is well worth it. You won't be disappointed for sure. And for those of you searching for a culinary experience like no other, look no further than Hiatus. There’s no doubt a table at Hiatus will quickly become the hottest reservation in town. :)
